Lake, hillsides and mountain stream

 By bike

Fancy a peaceful outing?

What if the most beautiful route were the one that invites you to slow down? Starting from Lourdes, this route offers a cycle ride where every kilometre is an invitation to enjoy the scenery, the tranquillity and the light of the Pyrenees. Fully signposted, it passes through unspoilt natural areas, follows the Gave river and offers superb views all along the route. An accessible getaway, ideal for discovering Lourdes in a different way, at the pace of a cycle ride.

The shores of Lake Lourdes

Lourdes Lake is the perfect place to take a break. Before setting off again, take a moment to admire the reflections on the lake, the Pyrenean mountains silhouetted on the horizon and the peaceful atmosphere that reigns over this unspoilt natural site. This stop is also a chance to fill your water bottle at the water point provided on site, so you can set off again fully refreshed to continue your journey.

A road panoramic

The route then follows the river before climbing gently towards the hillsides of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre. Very soon, the landscape opens out onto the surrounding countryside, with the Pyrenean peaks providing a spectacular backdrop. From these heights, the sensation of cycling amidsta vast panorama accompanies every turn of the pedals.

A pleasant descent then leads down to the village of Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre, where the beautiful Bigourdan houses, the arcaded square and the charming narrow streets invite you to linger a while longer. A stop on a terrace to enjoy a coffee or simply soak up the village atmosphere makes for an ideal break before setting off again
