Is the water in the Lourdes spa complex spring water?

The water in the spa area of the Lourdes Aquatic Centre is neither spring water nor thermal water. It is swimming pool water that has been treated in accordance with current regulations to ensure quality, hygiene and the comfort of users.

Where can I bathe in thermal water?

Lourdes does not have a spa fed by thermal water. However, there are several thermal spas nearby. In particular, you can enjoy the Aquensis thermal baths in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, the Thermes d’Argelès-Gazost or the Bains du Rocher in Cauterets. These establishments use naturally warm thermal water, renowned for its health and relaxation benefits.

The rock baths Cauterets

A little further up, as you follow the Gave upstream where it becomes more winding, you’ll reach the village of Cauterets. Historically built around its hot springs, the village boasts numerous spa facilities.

Whilst most are medical spas, you can still enjoy the beneficial waters at the Bains du Rocher. Here too, a jacuzzi, outdoor pool and hammam await you, all centred around a much more mineral-based theme.

Luzéa Luz-Saint-Sauveur

A land of light but also of water, Luz-Saint-Sauveur, the little village in the Pays Toy region, invites you to relax at Luzéa.

Ciéléo Barèges

It was during the 17th century that the Barèges thermal baths were built as a permanent structure. The precious water was initially used to treat soldiers and those wounded in war.

Gradually, the thermal baths opened their doors to everyone. Today, Ciéléo offers visitors the chance to enjoy the baths and ‘barégine’ treatments amidst stunning architecture, set against the backdrop of the valley opening out towards the world-famous Col du Tourmalet.
