Case 1: This is my main residence, which I would like to let out from time to time:
As a reminder, a main residence is one that is occupied by the owner for at least 8 months a year.
At present, there is no requirement to register with the local council, but you cannot let your property for more than 120 days a year.
Although you are exempt from the registration requirement, you are still required to declare your tourist accommodation activity for the collection of tourist tax and to provide all the necessary information to create a TOURINSOFT record (tourist information system) for your accommodation. They must then complete the declaration form in accordance with Article L-2333-43 of the General Code of Local Authorities:
Case 2: a furnished holiday let in a second home
You are required to register your holiday let with the town hall:
The City of Lourdes has set up a quick and easy registration system via a dedicated, secure platform:
1. Create your accommodation provider account:
https://lourdes.consonanceweb.fr
2-Register your holiday let: you will automatically receive a registration receipt by email, including the registration number for your holiday let, which is required by online booking platforms (Airbnb, Booking, Abritel, etc.)
The Tourist Office then records this information so that it can be entered into the tourist tax management software. The accommodation provider is issued with login details for the accommodation providers’ platform so that they can submit their monthly tourist tax returns online.
NB: The new law will come into force shortly. The identification number will become compulsory in all local authorities across France and for all types of accommodation (second homes or main residences). A national online declaration system for holiday lettings will be introduced and will come into force by 20 May 2026 at the latest. Further details are expected in the coming months via a decree regarding the practical arrangements for implementing this system, and we will be sure to keep you informed.
