Take a break for a snack in Lourdes

At snack time, whether in winter with a lovely hot chocolate or in summer with a refreshing scoop of artisan ice cream, Lourdes’s little gourmet shops invite you to enjoy some well-deserved sweet treats.

A treat for food lovers!

Crêpe or waffle?

It’s that little holiday indulgence, or a must-do on a day out: stopping in front of a crêpe or waffle shop’s window or stall is an absolute must! In Lourdes, as you wander through the streets, you’ll find plenty of little shops where you can treat yourself.

Take them away to enjoy on the go, or settle down in a cosy café – whether simply dusted with sugar or served on a plate under a mountain of toppings such as chocolate, almonds, whipped cream, jam and more. Food lovers of all ages are sure to find something to their taste.

Our favourite spots: the very BritishEleanor tea room, where crêpes sit alongside scones and muffins; theGalina gourmet café withits lovely terrace overlooking Les Halles; andAux mille et une saveurs, with a delicious afternoon tea set just a stone’s throw from the Sanctuary.

Having a hot chocolate...

As the temperatures drop and your fingertips start to feel cold, it’s lovely to take a break from sightseeing and seek refuge in a café, a tea room or a chocolate shop. To enjoy a creamy hot drink accompanied by a sweet treat, there’s nothing quite like a few well-chosen spots in Lourdes!

For history buffs, head to thePailhasson chocolate shop. Founded in 1729 by the Pailhasson family of apothecaries from Lourdes, these chocolates were, believe it or not, the favourites of Empress Eugénie and Pope Leo XIII.
We should also mentionLa Pie Colette: in a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, treat yourself to drinks that change with the seasons. From autumnal pumpkin spice lattes to fragrant iced teas in summer, don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations to treat yourself!

What’s in store for you
Enjoy a moment of relaxation

Whether on a terrace, in a tea room or right in the heart of the city centre, treat yourself to a moment of relaxation between sightseeing stops and savour the moment to the full.

Sharing a convivial moment

Whether with family, friends or as a couple, afternoon tea is a chance to get together, chat and continue exploring Lourdes in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Take a break between exploring new places

Take some time out to enjoy a pastry, some artisan ice cream, a hot drink or a local speciality at one of Lourdes’ gourmet spots.

Savour the delights of the Pyrenees

Spit-roasted cakes, specialities from the Pyrenees, chocolates, sweets and artisanal treats: let yourself be tempted by the delicacies that give this destination its charm.

…Or take a bite out of it

We step inside Alain Bourdet’s workshop, the Confiserie des Gaves: here he makes the traditional ‘cailloux de Lourdes’ as well as all sorts of chocolate treats… This expert in all things sweet will tell you more about how our little indulgences are made.

As for Yves Thuriès, he was drawn into the world of chocolate from an early age in his home village of Cordes-sur-Ciel: he began his apprenticeship at the age of 14 and has twice been crowned “Meilleur Ouvrier de France”! You’ll find these delicious treats in his shop in Lourdes.

A chocolate-themed detour: for an unusual souvenir, pop into the Noir ou Blancchocolate shop: their chocolate bars, engraved with the silhouette of the Château or the Pic du Midi, are as beautiful as they are delicious.

For ice-cream lovers

When the streets of Lourdes are baking under the summer sun, what could be better than a deliciously indulgent treat? Are you more of a waffle cone sort of person, or do you prefer a sundae bowl so you don’t make a mess? Vanilla and strawberry or vanilla and chocolate? Whether you’re after classic flavours or something a bit more original, you’re sure to find something to your taste at one of our many ice-cream parlours.

Take a stroll through the streets and pop into your favourite shop:V&V,Amorino Gelato,Chez Mamita,LN Côté Jardin or Made in Italy i Gelati areall here to serve you.

A new advert for food lovers

Since the summer of 2025, the forecourt of the Sacré-Cœur church has undergone a complete transformation. Completely redeveloped, this space in the heart of the town centre has become a pedestrian zone and now charms visitors with its friendly and peaceful atmosphere, ideal for a gourmet break in Lourdes.

In this new setting, three establishments invite you to discover their offerings:

The restaurant‘Le Divin’(6 Place de l’Église) offers a delicious immersion in Portuguese cuisine. In a calm and welcoming setting, you can savour authentic dishes, perfect for a moment to escape the hustle and bustle.
The tea room‘Les Délices de Fany’(2 Place de l’Église) delights those with a sweet tooth with its biscuits, crêpes and other treats, perfect for a comforting sweet break.
‘La Brûlerie Lourdaise’(5 Place de l’Église), a true institution since 1966: here, they continue to serve coffee freshly roasted on the premises. Enjoy it with a waffle, a crêpe or simply as a tasty little treat.
A trio of unmissable spots for treating yourself to a gourmet break in what is now one of the most pleasant areas of Lourdes town centre.
