When is the best time to watch the Tour pass through Lourdes?

At the Michel CRAUSTE roundabout to watch the peloton pass by as it comes along Rue de Pau and turns onto Avenue du Général Baron Maransin. To get to this area, if you’re arriving by car, we recommend parking near the Espace Robert Hossein. Place Marcadal this spot, like the next one, offers plenty of space to watch the race safely with children Jardin des Tilleuls opposite the Tourist Office, where you can enjoy plenty of space with your family. Make the most of the parade of vehicles and the peloton’s passage in the best possible conditions. The shaded area will help you cope better with the heat forecast for that day.

Where can you park to watch the Tour in Lourdes?

If you’re coming from Pau or Tarbes, we recommend parking near the Espace Robert Hossein and the aquatic centre.

When are the roads closed for the Tour de France?

For this stage, the town centre will be cordoned off from 10.00 am until the last vehicles in the race have passed through. Please check the relevant local by-laws

The 2026 Tour de France in the Pyrenees

The Tour de France is the world’s most famous and most gruelling cycle race. Every summer, it brings together the best cyclists from all over the world to cover more than 3,000 km. Some of the most spectacular stages of the Tour de France have indeed taken place in the Pyrenees: Tourmalet, Portet d’Aspet, Aubisque, Aspin, Marie Blanque, Peyresourde, Puymorens and Plateau de Beille.

Passage of the Tour de France in Lourdes

Stage 6: Pau to Gavarnie-Gèdre

Join us with family or friends on Thursday 9 July 2026 to enjoy the Tour de France, which will once again pass through Lourdes.
During Stage 6, the riders will set off from Pau and finish in Gavarnie, passing through two of the Tour de France’s must-see passes: the Col d’Aspin and the Col du Tourmalet.
A brand-new finish in an exceptional setting, which is set to be one of the highlights of the 2026 Tour.

The caravan

The Tour de France parade is an event everyone looks forward to. It is due to arrive in Lourdes on Thursday 9 July. It will pass through Lourdes at around 11.30 am.
For over 30 minutes, the many vehicles making up the promotional convoy will be handing out goodies and other souvenirs.
Please ensure you follow the safety instructions carefully whilst the parade and the cyclists are passing through.

The runners’ passage

Two hours after the support convoy has passed through, the riders will arrive in Lourdes.
At around 1.30 pm, the peloton will pass through our town before heading towards the first climbs of the stage, starting with the Côte de Loucrup.

Did you know?

The Tour was created to boost a newspaper’s sales. Indeed, Henri Desgranges, a former cyclist and editor of the daily newspaper *L’Auto*, organised this race in order to win back readers who were passionate about cycling. A court case had forced him to remove the word ‘vélo’ from the original title of his paper, L’Auto-Vélo.
