Our association, Notre-Dame des Douleurs, which runs a hospital for sick, elderly and/or dependent pilgrims, has 340 wheelchairs. Those not reserved for our patients are available to the public. Our medical care service relies heavily on the generosity of the faithful and pilgrims to enable vulnerable people who require a medical environment to come to Lourdes. We lend out our wheelchairs because vulnerable people cannot undertake the pilgrimage without this equipment. We ask for a deposit of €30 per wheelchair. In return, we receive a donation from them to maintain and sustain this service. We need this financial support.
