In the morning you will visit the Pont d’Espagne bridge, at the heart of the Pyrenees National Park, and can recharge your batteries by the torrents and waterfalls. Various hiking trails will allow you to explore the area fully. After a break at the spa resort in Cauterets, it will be time to go to Gavarnie and its natural cirque. When you stand before it, the immensity of the place cannot fail to move you. Set off for a walk from the village and explore this amazing backdrop, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More athletic visitors can go to the foot of the Grande Cascade, one of the highest waterfalls in Europe…
Once you get back to Lourdes at the end of the day, you can attend a performance of the “Bernadette de Lourdes” musical, an excellent way of immersing yourself in the history of Lourdes and the apparitions…

A day in Lourdes

At 9.30am every Sunday, the international mass brings together pilgrims of different nationalities in the surprising Basilica of St. Pius X. At the end of the morning, discover the Château Fort de Lourdes, a fortified castle, and its Pyrenean Museum, which is celebrating its centenary this year. After stopping for lunch, you can take a walk in town and discover many attractions and museums: Le Petit Lourdes, the Wax Museum or the Pic du Jer and its funicular. There’s something for everyone. At the end of the day, go and unwind on the shores of Lourdes Lake, take a seat on a terrace and enjoy the sunset…

Your last little escape before you head home

On Monday, before you set off for the airport, take a detour via the Halles de Lourdes. This architecturally distinctive covered market is an ideal place to discover the local specialities. Sample the gastronomy of the Pyrenees, and why not pick up a tasty souvenir to pop in your suitcase. A nice way to prolong the pleasure of your fabulous trip to Lourdes and the Pyrenees…
